As Aspasie’s Buyer and Estimator, Liza is one of the people who keeps the whole operation moving. She makes sure every raw material is available, on time and in the right quantity. Need 35,000 two-inch binder rings? 600 kg of nylon fibre? Five tonnes of paper in a very specific format? No problem. Liza will find it.
What is your favourite moment in the creation of a swatchbook?
Because I am involved in almost every stage of creating a swatchbook, I do not necessarily have one favourite moment. What I enjoy most is seeing each project evolve, taking part in that process, and the variety it brings to my everyday work.
What is your favourite hair colour?
Perhaps because I have a bit of a sweet tooth, I have a soft spot for balayage in cool chocolate tones such as mocha or espresso. They add depth and dimension while still looking elegant and natural. I also love gloss finishes for their mirror-like shine, which gives hair a polished, luminous look.
Tell us something most people do not know about you.
I am originally from France, and I have always been terrified of flying. So much so that by the time I was 29, I had never stepped on a plane.
Then, in 2020, I decided to start big: cross the Atlantic and move to Quebec. I figured that if I was going to be stressed, I might as well do it properly.
It is a good reminder that even our biggest fears do not have to stop us from pursuing important opportunities.
Tell us about your worst hair day.
Quand dans la vingtaine j’ai eu la brillante idée de passer de mon châtain a un blond polaire.
In my twenties, I had the brilliant idea of going from brown hair to icy platinum blonde. Bleach was obviously involved, and that is when things went wrong. I still remember looking at my stylist’s panicked face and realizing that my scalp was literally smoking. Disaster was very close, and I quickly understood that my blonde dream could turn into a full hair nightmare.
Thankfully, I can laugh about it now!
